This years big project - the rebuilding of New Cote

New Cote was built in 1962 next to the Downs in Bristol to provide nursing care for those no longer able to look after themselves.
It expanded over the years to provide rooms for 23 residents, largely on the basis of funding provided by the Grateful Society. As a result of the demands for this type of care, coupled with the increasing regulations that govern its operation, the decision was taken to replace it with a brand new residential home. The new home will be named Katherine House.
It will have a number of environmentally friendly features and it will provide expanded and hugely improved facilities. There will be 40 rooms each with an en suite bathroom.
There will also be:
- three sitting rooms
- a dining room with a private dining area which can be
- sectioned off for special occasions
- an information technology centre, to provide television,
- internet and Skype connections to all rooms
A significant donation towards the funding for Katherine House has been provided by the Grateful Society. Katherine House is due to open in December 2009.
