The Cote Charity

Katherine House

Over the past 50 years the Cote Charity has provided retirement housing and a range of care options for over 1000 residents, all set within beautiful and spacious gardens in Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol.

The Charity was formed around 1960 when Katherine Gotch Robinson converted the family home known as Cote into flatlets for those elderly who had been unable to provide for their own old age. Since that time the original house has been extended and improved a number of times and a residential care home has been built in the grounds.

The Grateful society has been able to help fund some of these improvements, particularly to increase the number of elderly that the Cote Charity can support. In 2009 the ageing care home known as New Cote was replaced with a ‘state of the art’ home called Katherine House after the original benefactor. The Grateful Society was pleased to be able to fund the construction of the dining room which now carries the Society's name. This has increased the number of residents from 23 to 40 in addition to the 13 sheltered flats within the original house.
